Glenora Distilleries Wins "Export Growth Through New Markets" Award Sponsored by Halifax Port Authority
Halifax, NS – May 22, 2009 - At the 26th Annual Export Achievement Awards Gala last night, the Halifax Port Authority presented the "Export Growth Through New Markets" award to Glenora Distilleries.
Lauchie MacLean, President of Glenora Distilleries accepted the award presented by Patrick Bohan, Manager of Business Development. Halifax Port Authority is a Gold Sponsor of the event and an award sponsor for the third year.
The Glenora Inn & Distillery is located at Glenville, Inverness County, Nova Scotia. Glenora Distillery, is a micro-distiller with an annual production of 250,000 litres of whisky. Their flagship product “Glen Breton” is the only single malt whiskey produced in North America. Their exports are sent abroad to markets in the U.S., Bermuda, Mexico, Europe and beyond.
“Glenora Distilleries is a success story for the Atlantic Region and they have demonstrated how a local company can build their business by tapping into international markets,” said Mr. Bohan.
The Port of Halifax is served by a wide array of small and large carriers that connect our region to over 150 countries. In total, Halifax now has 11 of the world’s top 15 container lines calling our Port and can market the fact that we have more individual scheduled liner services with direct calls to more continents than any other Canadian port.
The Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards ceremony is the province's foremost annual exporter-recognition event to showcase the successes of Nova Scotia's many talented and resourcefull export companies.
